Launched in 1997 as the world's first mass-produced hybrid car, the Toyota Prius released its 5th generation model in 2023 with a bold redesign.
While maintaining the signature monoform silhouette that has defined the Prius, the 5th generation model's striking design emphasized a wider, lower stance for a sportier and more refined appearance. The hammerhead-inspired front fascia and sleek, linear rear combination lights produced a stunningly fresh and sophisticated aura. The interior was forward-thinking like the exterior with a floating-style dashboard that integrated a modern LCD instrument panel and a centrally mounted touchscreen for an innovative and futuristic cabin experience.
As the pioneer of hybrid technology, the Prius continues to evolve its powertrain. Alongside the proven 1.8-liter engine paired with an electric motor, the 5th generation added a new, more powerful 2.0-liter engine + motor configuration to the lineup. This upgraded system delivered 1.6 times the output of its predecessor, combining the Prius's renowned eco-friendly attributes with exhilarating acceleration and precise responsiveness to the driver's input.
Further expanding its versatility, the Prius also offers the "E-Four" all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, which included a dedicated motor for the rear wheels. A plug-in hybrid variant was also introduced later, solidifying the Prius as a leader in both innovation and adaptability.
