How the Flare Works
Think of the flare as a funnel for your sluice box. In slow-moving water, your dream mat needs a steady flow to keep from getting "loaded" or buried in heavy sand.
The flare catches water from a much wider area and forces it into the narrow channel of your sluice. This increases the total volume and pressure of the water. This extra flow ensures that heavy sands are washed away while the gold settles safely into the mat.
